Post-Restoration Check Policy
Every restoration we carry out is completed with care and attention to detail. To make sure your vehicle continues to perform at its best, we ask that it is brought back to us within 7–14 days of collection for a complimentary post-restoration check.
During this visit, we will:
-
Inspect and re-torque road wheel fixings.
-
Check the tightness of key fastenings and fasteners throughout the vehicle.
-
Look over fluid levels, suspension components, and other safety-critical areas.
-
Address any early settling issues that naturally occur once a vehicle is back in use.
This visit is an important part of our restoration process. It allows us to confirm that everything has bedded in as expected and gives you peace of mind that your Land Rover is ready for years of reliable service.
There is no charge for this inspection. It is included as part of the restoration, and we strongly encourage all customers to take advantage of it. Visits are by appointment only, and we’ll make sure the kettle is on when you arrive.
The engines we supply and rebuild are not like modern units. They’re built to traditional designs with different tolerances, and because of this it’s essential that they are run in correctly to ensure long-term reliability. Taking care in these first few hundred miles will make all the difference to how your Land Rover performs for years to come.
-
For the first 500 miles, avoid sustained high speeds and heavy loads. Keep engine speeds moderate and vary them as you drive - don’t let the engine labour in a high gear, and equally don’t sit at one steady RPM for long periods.
-
Accelerate gently and avoid full-throttle use.
-
Keep road speeds sensible and allow the engine to warm up fully before pushing it.
-
Avoid towing, off-road work, or long motorway runs during this period.
-
Check oil and coolant levels regularly, as new and rebuilt engines often use a little more in their early life.
Once you’ve covered around 500 miles, it is a requirement for the warranty that the vehicle is brought back to us for a complimentary oil and filter change. This step is vital: during the run-in process, small particles are naturally shed as the new components bed together.
Replacing the oil and filter ensures that your engine starts its working life clean and protected. This inspection and oil change is carried out free of charge and gives us a chance to look the vehicle over, answer any questions, and make sure everything is running just as it should. By following these simple guidelines, you’ll help your Land Rover’s engine achieve the long, dependable service it was built for.
